31 years of Rainforest Concern

Another ocelot free at last!

Wonderful to see this male ocelot being released into Selva Bananito Reserve, Costa Rica. This beautiful animal having recovered from his injuries at the Jaguar Rescue Centre, Since 2008, an average of 600 animals are rescued per year and over 40% are successfully released back into the wild.

Luis Hernández (1951-2025)

Very sad to report the loss of our Ecuadorian friend Luis Hernández on Sunday after a battle with cancer. Luis had an extraordinary military career: hero of the war with Peru, head of Ecuador’s Special Forces, director of the Military Academy, made a general and most recently Minister for Defence. Unusually for a military man he was a committed environmental conservationist and for the past 26 years greatly assisted Rainforest Concern's work in Ecuador.
